About us

It all began with a simple idea fueled by a deep passion for horses.  At Hawkez Haven, we pride ourselves on personal attention and dedication to every horse. Our approach is rooted in kindness, patience, and understanding, ensuring that everything we do reflects our commitment to giving horses a second chance at life.

From a young age, I was completely horse-mad. Over the years, this passion for horses grew into a deeper understanding of their struggles. Discovering many unwanted, neglected, and abandoned horses, especially Thoroughbreds, inspired the creation of Hawkez Haven. These horses oftenbsuffer from misunderstanding and abuse.

Our story

Growing up, I was lucky enough to spend most of my childhood and young adulthood in the horse world. Riding, learning, and living life surrounded by them. Horses were always a part of who I was. As the years went by, I shifted my focus toward raising my family, but deep down, my heart never stopped longing for the presence of a horse. About four years ago, that longing became too strong to ignore, I knew it was time to bring a horse back into my life.

That’s when I found Turbo, a beautiful pinto Warmblood who reignited my passion. Wanting him to have a paddock companion, I began searching for another horse, ideally one that could be a bit of a project. That search led me to Rip, and from that moment, the spark that would grow into Hawkez Haven began to take shape.

How Hawkez Haven Took Shape

When Rip arrived, it became clear that his past hadn’t been easy. He needed patience, understanding, and time to rebuild his trust. Working with him reminded me just how many horses out there never get that second chance, how easily they can be forgotten or written off when they simply need care and compassion. Through Rip’s journey, I realized my purpose wasn’t just to own horses again, it was to help them heal. That’s how Hawkez Haven was born. What started as a personal journey quickly grew into something much bigger. A safe space where neglected, unwanted, and misunderstood horses could find kindness, proper care, and, most importantly, hope.

A Place for Second Chances

At Hawkez Haven, every horse that comes through our gates is seen for who they truly are, not for what they’ve been through. Each one carries a story, and we believe they all deserve a chance to write a better ending. This journey has taught me that healing doesn’t just belong to the horses; it extends to everyone who steps into their world. Whether it’s a rescue learning to trust again, or a person rediscovering their sense of purpose, Hawkez Haven is proof that with patience, empathy, and love, broken spirits can mend and new beginnings can bloom. 🌾

Rip’s story is a reminder that with kindness, patience, and understanding, even the most broken horses can learn to trust again. Today, Hawkez Haven stands for second chances; not just for the horses, but for the people who learn, grow, and heal alongside them.

Our approach to rehabilitation

At Hawkez Haven, building confidence, trust, and forming a bond is the most important part of every rescue’s journey. When a new horse arrives, our first goal is to connect with them on a ground level, to understand each other before any training begins.

Every horse deserves the chance to rebuild their confidence and learn that humans can be kind, patient, and safe. Through gentle groundwork and mutual respect, that trust begins to grow, and before long, a true bond forms.

We believe that rushing to “fix” a horse only deepens their fear or confusion. Instead, we take the time to listen, observe, and let each horse show us who they are. Once trust is established, the transformation happens naturally, not through force, but through understanding.

Our goal

Sadly, too many horses end up neglected or abandoned when people decide that caring for them is “too hard.” At Hawkez Haven, we work hard to break that cycle by carefully caring for them by individual needs and will only match our horses with responsible, experienced, and compassionate adopters who understand the lifelong commitment involved. We also recognize that not all owners intentionally cause harm, sometimes circumstances change, and things become overwhelming. However, doing the right thing early and choosing the safest option for the horse is always most important. Acting before their health deteriorates beyond recovery can mean the difference between a second chance and unnecessary suffering that too often ends in euthanasia.

Our mission at Hawkez Haven is to ensure that every rescue horse finds their person, someone they can truly connect with and trust. We are dedicated to giving each horse a guaranteed lifelong home where they will be properly cared for, loved, and not to be let down again by the humans who promised to protect them.

To help us ensure the best possible outcomes, all potential adopters are required to provide four references, such as a veterinarian, farrier, grazing landowner, or other equine professionals to confirm that our horses will continue receiving the care and respect they deserve.

Every horse deserves a forever home, and at Hawkez Haven, we want to make sure they find exactly that. We don’t just rescue horses, we give hope back to the ones who need it most. 🐴❤️💚
