Our Horses
Rip - Our 8 year old thoroughbred who began our first rescue mission. He will be forever apart of our Hawkez Haven Program.
Kahu, one of our first rescues of recent who suffered from a bad case of rainscaled and was very underweight, very shy and withdrawn. In over a month, Kahu has turned a huge transformation in condition and character. Kahu will be keen to find his own person when timing is just right.
Khan, our solid brick house who arrived with Kahu having a nasty open wound on the bulb of front hoof, which has taken nearly 3 months to get managable. Surprisingly it doesn't cause him lameness. He will be getting brought in once his hoof is healed enough to get worked on. In the 3 months, we have all had amazing bonding sessions with him while being turned out over spring. Khan definitely has cheek that will forceably bring a laugh or two out in you.
We have our special big red, Pedro. A solid strong chestnut gelding who has an amazing temperament. Pedro will be staying on at Hawkez Haven as his forever home.
Kohan- fresh off the track but yet so full of a promising champion in the right hands. Kohan is rising 7 very soon coming to us showing signs of lameness where we found he had a nasty infection inside his front hoof being thrush. With around the clock care, we got him back to his happy self within a week, while at the same time we were lucky enough to have that unfortunate time for him building a bond between us where he eventually calmed down alot from when he first entered our gates at Hawkez Haven. This boy has massive potential for show jumping/hunting or even dressage. Kohan is the full package for someone special.
Here we have the sweet mare Electra. Still in the process of healing up from rainscaled that covered her from her front to her back, but making amazing progress in healing. She has also gained nice weight and has a sparkle in her eyes. Electra will be another one who will remain with Hawkez Haven for a couple of years at least due to a major tear in her back hind leg. This youngster will get to enjoy her time here relaxing and getting doted on in her healing part of her life.
Lastly we our youngest of the lot, 3 year old Diablo the colt. He stands at around 14.2-3 hh and will not make it to reaching the horse height, which made the decision for his previous owners that he was not going to be suited for racing. We decided we would take him home and give him his haven where he will be handled and eventually be broken in. He is a notorious windsucker unfortunately but we are working around that, he's super quiet and very curious. Diablo wasn't even phased with a saddle and bridle being placed on him. He's got the looks and hopefully a calm temperament all year around!
